AAPSF Standards

The standards contained in the manual were developed to encourage the achievement of high-quality care in podiatric surgical facilities. Most standards are written in such a way so as to allow an organization to achieve compliance in a manner that is most compatible with its particular situation. Each standard is followed by a set of required characteristics that specifically define the intent of the standard. Any facility seeking accreditation must meet all of the APPLICABLE standards described in the manual.

Podiatric surgical facilities are considered for survey and accreditation on an individual basis. AAPSF determines whether the standards in the manual can be applied appropriately to a given facility, and if the standards cannot be applied, a survey will not be conducted. Consequently, the facility is informed of the reason for such a decision and the application fee is refunded in full.
